The school house was perfect for our family of six on summer vacation. Our kids enjoyed playing in the large surrounding yard with beautiful old walnut trees and lovely wind chimes. We appreciated the well stocked kitchen and hot tub. Lara was a very responsive, helpful host, answering questions quickly.

We really can't say enough good things about this place. The owners have thought of everything -- from the little fire starter cubes under the kitchen sink to the basket of little snacks on the table when you walk in the door.
This was our second stay here, and we had a wonderful time. We used the hot tub and the fire ring several times. We were delighted by the bird life nearby. My husband recorded more than a dozen different bird calls. We also heard barred owls as we sat around the fire pit at night.
The owners are excellent communicators. They were quick to answer questions and worked very hard to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
Also, I marveled many times at the ingenuity of creating three bedrooms and two (full!) bathrooms out of a one-room schoolhouse -- WITH a full washer/dryer and a dining room.
If you want a relaxing, comfortable stay away from it all, this is your place.

We had a girls' weekend at the Vickers Schoolhouse in Paola, Kansas and it was perfect! The schoolhouse is beautiful and very well suited for a party of 4 women. It was nice having 2 really nice bathrooms and we enjoyed the hot tub both nights!
We also loved that the trolley for the wine tour actually picked up us at the schoolhouse and dropped us off after! All in all, we loved our stay and would highly recommend the Vickers Schoolhouse for a romantic getaway, girls' weekend, or even a small family.
